Final Logo Designs

In general, my intention was to design logos for a hypothetical sea slug themed restaurant. The logos came out kind of "bubbly", for lack of a better term, because the sea slug is very colorful and blobby, and the cartoonish vibe was already part of my established style before taking this class. Overall, I feel like I should have paid more attention to color rather than just shape.

Since my designs are dark, they'll probably get sucked into the background of my blog. So I'll link them back to here from my deviantART page.

  2. MICHELLE,
I would really like to know what is going on for you. You seem to have good intent but when it comes down to doing the final product you do not seem to be able to achieve what you want. You are slow, do not, like to be helped, discussing your work with you is difficult as well. I would really like to see you in my office, working on your ideas in class, I think you could be a great student but something is not right.
Image: This is interesting but I wonder about the hat in reference to the shape of the actual animal? – a solid full shape and then the light lines of the hat do not have any real connection. I also feel you could work on your shapes – one shape does not fit all.
Like someone’s idea of making the antennae as chop sticks. hat is not good use of line.
Also I do not understand your color choice C
Image and Word: the word is in the patterning in the butt of the animal, unfortunately, I can not read the words –I feel they are a little too small and do not add interest– why did you use the cartoon theme? How does this reference the actual restaurant? The actual shape of the slug is boring compared to the complexity of the animal and its playfulness. can’t read the text and shape the same as the image
Letter: This is the best out of all your logos. A contorted Seaslug into the ‘s’ works - use of the black seems to suck all the color from the surrounding images. The shapes you are using are not very good – they must have a negative space that works and the frill could even be in a different color – what feel are you trying to give?
Word. The use of text is a good idea but be careful when you are designing text – When you are doing typography, it I important to get the correct optical, shape. An easy way to do this is to get a similar typeface and use it as a template. You need to work on the space a bit more – all a bit too blobby!
It is a good idea but the actual execution is problematic -
Why doesn’t it have color and how does the black reflect a restaurant?
Black and food? A few more colors – black is heavy and seafood is light. Why is the final letter back to front and the e touches the other letter
Design: I would get rid of the box on the outside.
Why did you choose those colors?
Why the bubbly cartoony shape – pre-established style is cartoony
